A couple of signatures (Kezia Hayden, Mary Petchey) and a numeric annotation to title page; a few stains,insect holes, and tears to borders; corner of page 179/180 in part 2 damaged but not affecting text. As with many books of this period, the strong paper has ensured a far better survival than many later books. This is the second-oldest book we have ever had for sale in 15 years trading. John Preston (1587-1628) was a Puritan minister in England. Dedicatory epistle by Thomas Goodwin and Thomas Ball. Preston's "Breastplate of Faith and Love" was reprinted by the Banner of Truth Trust.
