. 616 pages, several plates, many pictures of seals, edges foxed, front internal hinge broken, 2 pages loosened. This volume comprises short history of early Bishops in Scotland and then lengthy history/biography of Bishops & Archbishops of St Andrews down to (and dominated by) John Spottiswoode (1615-39). J F S Gordon was a High Episcopalian. His Ecclesiastical Chronicle appeared in four volumes, the first two (Scotichronicon) containing a sketch of the pre-Reformation church, and an extended version of Keith's 'Catalogue of Scottish Bishops'.
