. ix + 286 pages, one or two small foxing spots to top edges. Very similar in appearance to the Church of England Record Society volumes which we have had for sale in the past, also from the Boydell and Brewer stable. A son of Archbishop Edwin Sandys, and brother of Sir Edwin Sandys, George Sandys (1578-1644) was a traveller, colonist, and poet (much of his poetry being translations and paraphrases both of classical works and Bible poetry). Both he and his elder brother Edwin were involved in the colonisation of Virginia.
