. An unabridged set of the most famous Bible commentary in the evangelical world. Matthew Henry lived 1662-1714 and was a minister in Chester. The Nisbet editions have clearer print than some others, and these 9-volume printings have a wide margin around the text area. The 6 Old Testament volumes have only slight chipping to extremities, whereas the New Testament volumes have more damage to their external cloth spines, with half of the cloth spine of Vol 8 missing. Internally pretty solid with internal hinges unbroken, though one hinge of Vol 7 is cracking. With some competent mending these should prove useful for years to come. A little foxing and a very limited quantity of small vertical pen marks to margins, original owner's name cut out of flyleaf of Vol 4.
